Context and real problem
Science communication has to make complex work easier to understand while keeping its sources and uncertainty visible. A concise explanation or a striking image can lose the context that makes a claim meaningful. Nu Element Media explores how writing, visual direction, and a repeatable editorial process can work together without losing that connection to evidence.
Andres’s role
I am the Creator and Project Lead of Nu Element Media. I develop source-led explanations, guide the visual direction, and shape the editorial and production instructions. My role is to keep the scientific message and the visual treatment aligned through human review, including when AI assists with production.
Collaborators and setting
Nu Element Media is an independent science-communication project that I started in July 2026. Its working process brings together a coherent voice, visual identity, and editorial standards across different formats rather than treating each piece as an isolated output.
Methods and tools
The process begins with source-led writing. Editorial and brand guidelines define the tone, visual language, and standards for a piece. Reusable production instructions support AI-assisted visual work and adaptation across formats. I review the resulting text and imagery together so that production choices remain connected to the original explanation.
Responsibility and safety
Scientific claims stay tied to their sources, and uncertainty stays part of the explanation. Visuals need to be recognizable as illustrations rather than research findings. Human editorial review governs factual accuracy, attribution, and how a visual may shape interpretation; a polished image alone cannot establish the strength of the underlying evidence.
Outputs and outcomes
The outputs include editorial and brand guidelines, reusable production instructions, and a first published science-communication campaign on Instagram. The campaign translates a Thoracic Surgery Clinics review into a carousel and Reel with source attribution and an authorship disclosure. The black-sphere Nu logo shown here is a Blender render of the project's official visual identity. Publication establishes that the campaign is available; audience impact and campaign results remain outside this account.
What I learned
Clear instructions can make production more consistent, but consistency still needs judgment. I want the process to make it easier to trace a statement back to a source, question a visual choice, and revise a piece before it is used.
